This is a piece I did several years ago, still one of my favs. It's done on gold metallic scratchboard [like gold foil covered in a black coating that you scratch away -- in case someone doesn't know] It's meant to be lined up side by side with my two other scratchboards [uploading them now...] The proper order should be:
Golden Eagle -- Wolf -- Mountain lion

Someday I'll frame them or something...

this is incredible! i find scratch board dificult to control, but you have done it wonderfuly.
That really is fantastic. How do you find the patience for all the detail? I really do wish that I could be as detailed in my own work.
It's such a gorgeous picture of a gorgeous animal. Wow :D

=) It really didn't take that long, I did each of my scratchboards in a couple hours start to finish ... which for me is like lightning fast. The thing is, you can't erase at all, so everything you put on the paper gets you a bit closer to being done. I can't redo anything on them, so I get done really fast. =P
That... is gorgeous... :omg: ...The details, all the hairs.... and the golden-red hue it has just makes it so much more beautiful.... it picks up on the individual hairs, reflects off them differently... Geezuz jimminy that's realistic looking...
Oh mah freakin' heck.

I like scratchboard, it's a favourite medium of mine, particularly with living things (like animals and sezzy people).

And you did a FREAKIN AWESOME job. Because of the way the foil reflects light differently, it looks like different parts are toned differently, which is something you don't really get with using white as a base. Absolutely incredible. *thumbsup*
Thanks!
I enjoy the foil scratchboard, it does seem to add more depth to the picture. Another thing I like to do with it is tint silver foil scratchboard with art markers. I did a scratchboard of a tropical butterfly like that -- it added some nice color to the shiny silver. You could probably try tinting white scratchboard too, if you ever want to add some color to it... =D
Absolutely beautiful. And scratchboard adds such a warming effect. Just captivating. Keep it up.
Wow this is amazing!!! :wow: That looks so realistic and it's astonishing how you managed to get all the different tones and textures with the scratch board!! After seeing this I think I might have to have a bash. Anyhoo well done excelent job :worship: :+fav:
